Security Technician
Position Overview
McEwen Mining Inc.’s Gold Bar Mine is seeking a Security Technician to join the site security team. This position plays a key role in protecting company personnel, facilities, and assets by monitoring site access, conducting surveillance, and ensuring that only authorized individuals enter the property. The Security Technician maintains a visible presence throughout the site and serves as the first point of contact for employees, contractors, and visitors entering the mine.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Security and Surveillance
- Conduct vehicle searches and safety inspections.
- Maintain a clean workplace in office and work vehicle.
- Monitor site entry points and verify authorization for all personnel entering the property.
- Conduct routine patrols and surveillance of designated areas across the mine site.
- Monitor CCTV systems, radios, alarms, and security systems as required.
- Identify and report suspicious activities or security concerns.
- Verify identification and authorization for employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors entering the site.
- Maintain accurate site access logs and documentation.
- Issue and manage temporary access badges and visitor credentials.
- Ensure all personnel follow site access and security procedures.
- Communication and Reporting
- Compile and submit daily security reports to the Security Supervisor.
- Communicate warnings, alerts, and security notifications across the site when necessary.
- Document incidents and maintain accurate records of security activities.
- Operational Support
- Aid operations teams with PreOperational and PostOperational inspections when required.
- Participate in daily operational meetings and safety discussions.
- Complete administrative duties related to security documentation and reporting.
- Safety and Compliance
- Follow all MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and HSE standards.
- Participate in safety meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety and security across the mine site.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong communication, organizational, and reportwriting skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military, or industrial site security. Experience with CCTV systems, radio communication devices, and access control systems. Familiarity with MSHA regulations or mining industry safety standards. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and security reporting systems.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
- This position operates in a remote, rural mining environment and requires both indoor and outdoor work throughout the mine site.
- Work 10 hour rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Extended periods of standing and walking across uneven terrain.
- Frequent climbing of stairs or ladders.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, and stooping.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and dust.
- Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including respirators when necessary.
