Security Systems Technician
About the Role
This is a full-time, in-person opportunity for an experienced Access Control & Security Systems Technician (Installer II) to join a growing team in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area. This is not an entry-level cable-pulling position. The role requires 2+ years of low-voltage experience and hands-on commercial access control/security installation experience, with the ability to complete quality work with minimal supervision, troubleshoot problems in the field, and take ownership of the job.
What You'll Do
As an Installer II, you'll independently install and assist with commissioning commercial physical security systems throughout the Raleigh-Durham area and Southeast. Your work will include:
- Electronic access control systems
- Card readers, electric strikes, magnetic locks and electrified door hardware
- REX devices, door contacts, motion sensors and push buttons
- Control panels and power supplies
- Low-voltage cabling, termination, labeling and testing
- IP surveillance cameras and NVRs
- Intercom and visitor management systems
- Intrusion detection systems
- Structured cabling as needed
- Reading blueprints and installation drawings
- Troubleshooting installation and system issues
- Testing completed installations and correcting punch-list items
- Completing accurate job and closeout documentation
You'll also assist senior technicians and help mentor Installer I team members as your skills and leadership abilities grow.
Requirements
- 2+ years of low-voltage installation experience
- Hands-on commercial access control installation experience
- Commercial security system installation experience
- Ability to read construction drawings
- Basic networking knowledge
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience with hand and power tools
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to safely work from ladders and lifts
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening and drug testing
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or manufacturer certifications involving Mercury, HID, ASSA ABLOY, Allegion, BadgePass, Entrust, Avigilon Alta/Openpath, Genetec, LenelS2, CCURE, Verkada, Axis, Milestone, Hanwha, Cisco or PoE networking is a plus. Manufacturer certifications are highly valued.
