Security Systems Solutions Engineer

IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services, offering electrical, mechanical, and communications contracting solutions for commercial, industrial, residential, and renewable energy markets.

About the role

The Solutions Engineer provides internal and customer process analytics and collaborates with the sales team on customer-facing services and solutions. This role assists in day-to-day pre-construction deliverables and supports the design of low-voltage solutions for IES clients.

Responsibilities

• Work with the sales team to design low-voltage solutions for IES clients.
• Identify current and future customer service requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers.
• Provide product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
• Determine improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in the customer environment; propose changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials/services.
• Act as liaison between sales, project management, and operations during project handover for installation.
• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information from site visits and customer meetings for the pre-construction and sales team.
• Attend training and review sessions on technical requirements per the Company’s training guidelines.
• Attend and complete job turnover meetings to cover all project details and expectations as designed.
• Handle other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, and capable of leading others to create, develop, and implement project process improvements.

• Proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations.
• High skill level in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
• Ability to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
• Ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects/estimates and maintain a high level of organization.
• Minimum of seven (5) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
• Experience in customer interface, acting as liaison between the customer and the Company.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
• Must meet Company minimum driving standards.

Qualifications

• At least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• RCDD certification preferred.
• Structured cabling industry experience preferred.

Pay

Annual salary range: $65,000 – $125,000 USD.
