Security Specialist

Morenci operations, an open-pit copper mining complex, has been in continuous operation since 1939 and is located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona. The site includes two concentrators, a crushed-ore leach pad, SX plants, and EW tank houses. About the role

Perform overall shift responsibilities for internal and external patrol work, including the mining property perimeter, warehouses, and office buildings. Serve as shift coordinator and liaison for contract security groups and company processes.

Responsibilities

• Grant and record access to secure/restricted locations.
• Process all key and badge requests.
• Conduct basic initial security investigations for theft, drug and alcohol, and workplace violence issues.
• Manage access requests for unmanned gates and secured locations; record all access information.
• Perform security checks on all secure and restricted locations (operate and facilitate maintenance on assigned security vehicle).
• Communicate expectations for contractor security functions and processes at security gates.
• Grant/deny access requests for unmanned gates and secured locations; record all access information.
• Conduct shift security searches as needed.
• Process all key and identification badge requests.
• Communicate with local law enforcement and other outside agencies as appropriate.
• Develop and provide reports for management regarding contractor efficiency and safety.
• Perform basic computer data entry.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum one (1) year of experience in Security or Law Enforcement, including one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English.
• Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
• Personal protective equipment is required (e.g., hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
• Problem-solving/resolution experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic computer skills.

Pay

The estimated pay range for this role is $24.50 - $33.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.

Schedule

Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
