Security/Receptionist
About the role
The Security/Receptionist will ensure a safe and welcoming environment at Gowanus Cornerstone, managing access and security.
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors, control access, monitor security systems and respond to emergency situations
- Greet participants, guests and colleagues, answer phones, provide information and assist with administrative tasks
- Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude
- Monitor and authorize entry for personnel, visitors and participants
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, incidents and contact the appropriate authorities when needed
- Conduct regular patrols and walkthroughs to ensure security and identify potential issues
- De-escalate disruptive behaviors and ensure the safety of personnel, guests and participants
- Collect, sort and return and/or discard lost and found items
- Clean, organize and maintain workspace and shared spaces throughout the facility
- Coordinate community relations efforts and participate in outreach activities
- Auxiliary support for community events
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience as a security guard/front desk receptionist
- Valid security guard license
- Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification through recognized accrediting body preferred
Pre-employment Requirements
- NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening
- NYS Clearance Review Background Check
- SEL
- 3 Reference Checks
- Physical w/updated TB test

Summer Program Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 11 pm, Saturday - Sunday 3 pm - 11 pm. Exact working schedules vary based on program needs.
