About the role
In this position, you will install, program, and start up security, fire, and building automation systems. You will handle projects of varying complexity, ensuring they are delivered effectively within budget and on schedule. Your role includes acting as the key technical interface for customer support, maximizing satisfaction, and potentially mentoring less-experienced staff.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems, including security, fire alarm, life safety, and building automation.
- Act as the primary technical support and training interface for customers, ensuring high satisfaction.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, manuals, and wiring diagrams to determine installation requirements.
- Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
- Write non-routine programs of substantial variety and complexity for systems.
- Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and performance standards while taking ownership of onsite work.
- Provide custom systems integrations, detailed upgrade planning, systems audits, and database management.
- Install, configure, and support network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
- Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
- Perform all work in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company health and safety policies.
- Use troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
- Advise management on customer satisfaction, product performance, and installation techniques.
- Assist in developing customer presentations or new business development activities.
- Execute technical aspects of multiple projects, including preparation of deliverables like submittals, programming, start-up, certification testing, and customer training.
- Identify potential project risks, communicate them to appropriate parties, and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Operations Managers to coordinate projects, supervise subcontractors, and recommend improvements.
- Mentor and train less-experienced staff, providing performance feedback to management.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure while meeting customer needs.
- Strong technical skills and experience with building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electronic, fire alarm, life safety, and/or building automation industries.
- Certification in Genetec, Lenel, Softwarehouse, Avigilon, or other enterprise-level systems.
