About the Role
Security Patrol is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R), its properties, assets, guests, and team members across all HE&R venues, both on and off the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex. Security Patrol conducts regular patrols and safety checks of HE&R venues, responds to alarms, emergency calls, or other requests for assistance, and ensures a safe environment at the largest amusement park in Pennsylvania, featuring over 70 rides, a zoo, and a water park.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and friendly atmosphere for guests and team members
- Establish and maintain working relationships with other departments and support teams
- Provide security for transporting money and financial documents
- Manage deployment of security personnel and equipment during incidents
- Assess, investigate, resolve, and contain situations based on company policy and training
- Conduct high-visibility patrols of buildings and grounds
- Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic when necessary
- Monitor guest behavior for compliance with event and venue policies
- Monitor crowd behavior and movement, taking proactive measures to mitigate risk
- Communicate regularly with Security Management regarding operational issues, concerns, losses, and unusual situations
- Create timely, thorough, and accurate incident reports
- Consistently practice safe work habits, including use of personal protective equipment and reporting unsafe situations
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Safety & Security (professional experience may substitute)
- Must obtain RAMP Certification post-employment
Qualifications
- Criminal justice, safety, or security-related training and experience preferred
- Friendly, upbeat, and able to interact well with guests and team members
- Able to work independently and be self-motivated
- Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, including delivering safety instructions and using radios/microphones
- Ability to complete all legal, company, and department training requirements
- Ability to remain alert and vigilant at all times
- Ability to handle stressful conditions, emergencies, and high accountability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to safeguard confidential information
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Excel, Word)
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and professional image in compliance with HE&R guidelines
Job Demands
- Must work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Must work a minimum of eight (8) hours every two pay periods to remain active
- Exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, sun, cold, and inclement weather
- Ability to stand and walk unassisted for up to eight hours at a time
- Ability to bend at the waist and knees, and perform repeated manual tasks
- Ability to raise leg 37 inches, push, pull, and reach above shoulder level
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance
