About the role
Security Officers at ProHealth Care play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, providers, and volunteers across all facilities and campus areas.
Responsibilities
- Patrol interior and exterior areas of the campus to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Respond to calls for assistance, alarms, emergency codes, and other security-related situations.
- Escort staff, patients, visitors, and others as requested.
- Conduct investigations, including interviews, obtaining statements, writing reports, and collecting and securing evidence.
- Complete security incident reports and document unusual events, situations, and occurrences.
- Support access control, ID badge checks, key control, door lock/unlock schedules, and other facility security processes.
- Respond to situations involving violent or aggressive individuals using professional communication and de-escalation skills.
- Follow department training, policy, and applicable state and federal law related to the use of force, personal safety, and protection of others.
- Participate in emergency response activities, including lockdowns, active threat response, and other emergent situations.
- Conduct fire drills and support the Security Management Plan and Environment of Care standards.
- Serve as backup support for Security Dispatch and the Hospital Operator as needed.
- Use security-related systems and equipment, including radios, metal detectors, access control systems, photo ID systems, alarm systems, security databases, phones, and vehicle assistance tools.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- An Associate degree or higher is preferred.
- Related security experience is preferred.
- A valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record is required.
- The ability to work the location and shift requirements of the position is required.
- Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills are necessary.
- The ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in stressful or emergent situations is essential.
- The ability to respond appropriately to aggressive or violent behavior using training, policy, and de-escalation techniques is required.
- A willingness to attend regularly scheduled Defensive Tactics for Security and Professional Communication Skills training is expected.
- The ability to maintain proficiency in the application and removal of handcuffs is necessary.
- The comfort to work in a health care environment with patients, visitors, staff, physicians, vendors, and community partners is required.

Pay
FTE: 0.50
Schedule: 3 PM - 11 PM shifts, with weekend and holiday rotation required. Possible shifts at the other WMH and OMH hospitals.
