About the Role
This position provides security for patients, guests, and employees, enforces company policies and procedures, and performs assigned duties that ensure the security of patients, guests, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
- Conducts routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations of the company.
- Investigates accidents and other incidents which are assigned and reports all occurrences in a timely manner.
- Performs opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration and performs other safety and security related duties as assigned.
- Participates in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
- Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communication style.
- Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in Security, law enforcement, or military.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Valid driver’s license in the state of practice and clean DMV report.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) and firearms training.
Skills
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
- This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, and stairwells in 11+ floor structures.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
- The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms.
- There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
- There may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment.
