About the role

As an unarmed Security Officer Residential Shelter in Bronx, NY, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help deter security-related incidents. In this people-first role, you will support residents, staff, and visitors through strong communication and customer service while bringing reliability, integrity, and teamwork to each shift in a dynamic shelter environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and/or staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities within a shelter setting.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and sharing updates with site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entrances, exits, hallways, and perimeter areas, helping to deter unwanted activity and/or policy violations.
• Monitor access points and verify authorized entry for residents, guests, vendors, and/or staff in accordance with site procedures, helping to support orderly operations at the location.
• Observe and report maintenance concerns, suspicious activity, rule infractions, and/or unusual conditions that could affect residents, staff, or daily shelter operations.

Requirements

• A guard card and/or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
• F02 Fire Guard certification is beneficial.

$18.87 / hour

• Wednesday: 07:30 AM - 03:30 PM
• Thursday: 07:30 AM - 03:30 PM
• Saturday: 07:30 AM - 03:30 PM
• Sunday: 07:30 AM - 03:30 PM
