About the role

As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location in New York, NY, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond to security-related concerns with integrity and care.

Position Type: Part Time

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, including contacting appropriate onsite personnel and/or emergency services when needed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of shelter common areas, entrances, exits, perimeter, and other assigned locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site procedures, documenting observations, incidents, and required reports accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a professional presence while supporting a respectful, trauma-informed environment for individuals accessing shelter services.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
