Security Officer - Property Access

About the role

As a Security Officer - Property Access in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Access Control Officer, you will help create a welcoming, secure environment by monitoring entry points, verifying credentials, managing visitor access, and responding to access-related concerns. You will use technology to support site operations, maintain a visible presence that helps deter incidents, and deliver professional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor and control access points, verify authorized entry, maintain visitor logs, and direct guests, vendors, and residents in accordance with site procedures.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and documenting activities as required.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the property and perimeter, observing for unusual conditions and reporting concerns.
• Assist with traffic and parking access control during events or periods of increased activity, following site-specific instructions.

Requirements

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
