About the role

As a Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer at a shelter location in Brooklyn, NY, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond professionally to concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner while following established protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the shelter location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter areas, to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and assist with visitor and resident entry procedures in accordance with location-specific requirements.
• Document observations, incidents, and patrol activity accurately and communicate relevant information to appropriate site personnel.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
