About the role
We are seeking a Part-Time Evening Security Officer, which includes a Shift Differential in order to protect hospital-controlled properties and equipment and provide a safe and secure environment for Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI).
Responsibilities
- Patrol the facilities grounds and buildings ensuring the areas are secure and that safety issues are addressed
- Respond to behavioral emergencies
- Escort individuals we serve on Special Hospitalizations
- Patrol nursing unit every 15 minutes
- Process electronic fingerprinting
- Ensure equipment temperatures are functioning properly
- Respond to alarms
- Support emergency management programs
- Transport individuals
- Provide support to the switchboard/reception
- Work mandatory overtime as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule
Evening Shift: 3:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Pay
$26.51/hr. (includes shift differential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in a security/safety position
- Current state motor vehicle operator's license
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
Additional Considerations
- Computer Skills with Microsoft Products
- Report writing
- Experience with Mental Health population
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Virginia state codes, laws, and regulations
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to write reports
- Ability to use Microsoft products
- Ability to use interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships
