Security Officer - Part-Time

About the role

We are seeking a Part-Time Evening Security Officer, which includes a Shift Differential in order to protect hospital-controlled properties and equipment and provide a safe and secure environment for Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI).

Responsibilities

• Patrol the facilities grounds and buildings ensuring the areas are secure and that safety issues are addressed
• Respond to behavioral emergencies
• Escort individuals we serve on Special Hospitalizations
• Patrol nursing unit every 15 minutes
• Process electronic fingerprinting
• Ensure equipment temperatures are functioning properly
• Respond to alarms
• Support emergency management programs
• Transport individuals
• Provide support to the switchboard/reception
• Work mandatory overtime as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

Evening Shift: 3:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Pay

$26.51/hr. (includes shift differential)

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in a security/safety position
• Current state motor vehicle operator's license
• High School Graduate or Equivalent

• Computer Skills with Microsoft Products
• Report writing
• Experience with Mental Health population

• Knowledge of Virginia state codes, laws, and regulations
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to write reports
• Ability to use Microsoft products
• Ability to use interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships
