Security Officer - Part-Time

Position Summary

Citadel Security USA is seeking a Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer to provide security services at a public library in Glenwood Springs.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence throughout the library during assigned shifts.
• Conduct routine walkthroughs of public areas, entrances, exits, and surrounding grounds.
• Monitor the building for safety concerns, suspicious behavior, or unauthorized activity.
• Help ensure library rules and site procedures are followed appropriately.
• Welcome patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
• Provide directions or general assistance when requested.
• Support library staff by helping maintain a safe and orderly environment.
• Address minor concerns professionally and notify management when additional assistance is required.
• Observe developing situations and respond according to established procedures.
• Report unsafe conditions, property damage, or security concerns promptly.
• Contact supervisors or emergency responders when circumstances require.
• Aid with orderly evacuations or emergency procedures when directed.

Documentation

• Complete daily activity reports with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Document incidents, observations, and unusual events in a clear and timely manner.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding operational and client-related information.

Minimum Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• The minimum age is 18 years.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills are required.
• The ability to remain alert while working independently is important.
• Basic computer proficiency for report completion is necessary.
• The ability to successfully pass a background investigation is required.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in security, customer service, hospitality, or public-facing roles is beneficial.
• Experience working in libraries, educational facilities, municipal buildings, or other public environments is advantageous.
• Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills are highly valued.
• The ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds is important.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Occasionally bend, reach, and climb stairs as needed.
• Maintain visual awareness across assigned areas.
• Respond promptly to incidents requiring immediate attention.

Work Environment

This assignment is in a public library where professionalism, courtesy, and strong communication are essential. Officers regularly interact with library staff, visitors, contractors, and community members while maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.

Pay

Up to $18.50 per hour

Schedule

Friday: 9:15 AM - 5:15 PM
Saturday: 10:15 AM - 5:15 PM
Sunday: 1:15 PM - 5:15 PM
