About the role
As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor access activity, and maintain a visible presence that helps deter security-related incidents. You will conduct routine patrols, communicate professionally with employees and visitors, and deliver outstanding service.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to visitors, employees, contractors, and members of the public by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
- Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and authorized access, maintain visitor logs, and direct individuals to appropriate locations in accordance with established procedures.
- Respond to access-related incidents, unauthorized entry attempts, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns through designated channels as needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, entrances, and perimeter locations to help identify security-related concerns and help deter unauthorized activity.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports related to incidents, access control activities, observations, and shift handoffs.
Requirements
- Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
- Have at least one year of security-related experience.
- Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED, as required by the client.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
