Security Officer Part Time Access Control Operations

About the role

As an Access Control Officer at a dynamic aerospace and defense location in Portsmouth, VA, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor access activity, and support a secure environment for personnel and visitors. You will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and deliver exceptional customer service and communication. This is a part-time position offering flexibility to build a schedule that works for you.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors at an aerospace and defense location by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Verify identification, credentials, access authorizations, and visitor documentation before permitting entry to controlled areas.
• Monitor access points, alarms, cameras, and security-related systems; document and report unusual activity, access discrepancies, and policy violations.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established site procedures and communicating with appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of entry points, restricted areas, and the facility perimeter to help deter unauthorized access.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

Pay

$18.50 / hour

• Wednesday: 10:00 PM - 06:00 AM
• Thursday: 10:00 PM - 06:00 AM
