Security Officer III

About the role

The Security Officer III position is charged with providing security services for campus and contracted areas, serving as the lead supervisor for the Security Office and its employees.

Responsibilities

• This officer will be the lead representative of the Security Team when on the scene of an incident until a higher ranking Security Administrator arrives.
• This position is the primary unit responsible for ensuring all buildings on campus, off campus, and in contracted areas are open or secure at their proper times.
• Patrols campus and contracted areas to maintain order and security, observing suspicious individuals or vehicles and confronting them if necessary.
• Completes punch rounds of all buildings on campus, occasionally patrolling and securing contracted areas.
• Writes citations and warnings as necessary.
• Maintains awareness of campus and contracted situations, reading and initialing daily logs, incident reports, and memos.
• Maintains equipment and reviews irregularities and reports.
• Fills out reports when incidents occur and completes miscellaneous projects as assigned.
• Fulfills protocols outlined in the Security Office’s manuals.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; or three plus years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, speak effectively, perform basic math, apply common sense, use computers, obtain relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Three plus years of related experience and/or training.
• Valid CA Driver’s License.
• Public Driving Record required.
