About the role

As an Access Control Officer in a dynamic logistics and distribution location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor activity, and provide outstanding customer service to visitors and personnel. Your visible presence and clear communication will help deter security-related incidents while supporting orderly operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients, visitors, drivers, and contractors while carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a maritime logistics location.
  • Monitor and control entry and exit points, verify credentials and authorizations, maintain visitor and vehicle access records, and direct authorized personnel to appropriate areas.
  • Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and notification procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, access points, business operations, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity.
  • Communicate professionally with port personnel, transportation partners, and the public while documenting security-related observations and incidents.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience as a Military Police Officer, Corrections Officer, Armed Security Officer, and/or Certified Law Enforcement Graduate.
  • CPO certification.
  • DD214 with an honorable discharge, an associate degree or 60 college credits, a police academy certificate, and/or a corrections academy certificate.
  • Law Enforcement Officer License.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  • At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
