About the role

Join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer supporting a dynamic aerospace and defense location in Portsmouth, VA. You will manage access points, verify credentials, monitor entry activity, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help deter security-related incidents. Deliver exceptional customer service and clear communication while supporting a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Verify identification, credentials, and authorization for entry to restricted areas; manage visitor registration and maintain accurate access-control records.
• Monitor access points, alarms, cameras, and communication systems, reporting suspicious activity or access-control concerns according to site procedures.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate site contacts and emergency responders as directed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of facilities, controlled areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized access and identify security-related concerns.

Requirements

• A Guard Card/License is preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
