As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help maintain a secure environment by monitoring entry points, verifying credentials, controlling access, and responding to security-related concerns. You will provide professional customer service and clear communication while supporting a welcoming experience for authorized visitors and personnel.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to visitors, tenants, vendors, and port personnel by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Monitor and control access to government port facilities by verifying identification, credentials, visitor authorization, and delivery documentation in accordance with site procedures.
- Maintain accurate visitor, vehicle, contractor, and access-related logs; issue and collect authorized access credentials as directed.
- Respond to access concerns, incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and public agencies when required.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned entry points, facilities, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized access and report security-related concerns.
Requirements
- At least two years of security-related experience are required.
- A TSA-issued TWIC is required.
- A Guard Card or license is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
