Security Officer Electrical Company Control Access Patrol

About the role

As a Security Officer at an electrical company in Northport, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in the utilities industry. This part-time position involves conducting routine patrols, monitoring assigned areas, supporting access control activities, and maintaining a visible presence to help deter incidents. You will provide outstanding customer service and clear communication while responding to security-related concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, contractors, and visitors at a utilities location by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of utility facilities, buildings, substations, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help identify unusual activity, unauthorized access, or potential hazards.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials as directed, maintain visitor and contractor logs, and report access-control concerns in accordance with site procedures.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site contacts and emergency services when required.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and daily activity logs, documenting patrols, incidents, observations, and security-related concerns.

Requirements

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.

$19.57 per hour

Schedule

Part-time. Thursday 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Friday 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Saturday 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
