Security Officer (Commercial)

Job Summary

Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.

This role involves controlling access, monitoring entrances and exits, patrolling the site, reporting incidents, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Controls access to the client site or facility through the admittance process
• Affords a courteous, respectful, and pleasant interaction with clients and visitors
• Maintains an atmosphere where clients feel cared for and respected
• Communicates information about the site and surrounding area as needed
• Patrols assigned site on foot or in vehicle
• Monitors entrances and exits, prevents unauthorized entry, and enforces regulations
• Protects evidence or scenes of incidents, sets up barriers, and provides direction
• Reports incidents or suspicious activity to relevant parties
• Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to acquire and maintain any other specific special clearances/access requirements.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.
• Basic life support CPR/AED and First Aid from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
• Ability to see, hear, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
• Ability to be an effective team member.
• Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.
• Courteous telephone manner.
• Good organizational skills.
• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.
• Basic skills in keyboarding, computer usage, and operating controls.

Qualifications

• United States citizenship preferred.
• Ability to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
• Ability to meet and continue to meet certification requirements for Basic Life Support CPR/AED and First Aid from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
