Security Officer (Commercial)

Job Summary

Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.

About the role

This role involves controlling access, monitoring entrances and exits, patrolling the site, reporting incidents, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Controls access to the client site or facility through the admittance process;
• Affords a courteous, respectful, and pleasant interaction with clients and visitors;
• Communicates information about the site and surrounding area as needed;
• Patrols the site on foot or in vehicle;
• Monitors entrances and exits; acts to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry;
• Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations;
• Prepares logs or reports as required for site;
• Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives, company management, life/safety personnel, or public safety authorities as appropriate.

Requirements

Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D;
• Basic qualifications include ability to acquire and maintain any other specific special clearances/access requirements;
• Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures;
• Ability to see, hears, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients;
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form;
• Ability to be an effective team member;
• Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances;
• Courteous telephone manner;
• Good organizational skills;
• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures;
• Basic skills in keyboarding, computer usage, and operating controls.

Skills

Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.
