Security Officer-Broadway (Sun-Thurs) (6 am-2pm)

Responsibilities

• Complete regular security rounds
• Check for and verify proper identification
• Sign-in/out individuals
• Provide escort services
• Control building ingress and egress
• Write reports
• Ensure adherence and compliance of Institute policies
• Promptly respond to disturbances while on duty
• Check for Kennedy Krieger Institute issued identification (ID) badges
• Complete the sign-in/out process for all patients, employees, contractors, trainees, vendors, and visitors without Institute issued ID badges
• Ensure enforcement and demonstrate compliance of all security related policies/procedures
• Inspect packages carried out/entering buildings by patients, employees, contractors, trainees, vendors, or visitors to ensure that the individual has proper pass/authorization for removal and to keep out contraband
• Arm/disarm alarm systems and monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems
• Absorb and assist with investigations
• Document and report all suspicious activity and prepare detailed reports as needed (i.e., Daily/monthly Activity Report, Security Incident Report, and Injury Reports)
• Ensure that assigned work environments are properly maintained and clean
• Report safety/security issues, property defects, fire hazards, theft, and vandalism to appropriate authority in a timely fashion
• Absorb and assist with training new/less experienced security officers and contract staff

Qualifications

• Maryland Security Guard Certification within 30 days of employment pursuant to Maryland Senate Bill 760
• May require Class “D” Maryland driver’s license with no more than two points depending on assigned location

Education

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
