Security Officer
$1,000 Hiring Bonus for eligible external hires that meet the required qualifications and conditions for payment. This is a combined posting for a Security Officer and Senior Security Officer. Consideration for each role will be based on qualifications.
About the role
Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and property of Swedish Medical Center. Due to continuous public contact, the highest level of customer service skills is essential. Conducts random patrols, responds to and investigates security incidents, reports safety hazards, and documents actions and observations. Responds to alarms and codes, assists with safe patient handling, and provides traffic control. Conducts routine safety walks and submits remedial requests for identified concerns. May be required to use physical force, run, climb stairs, or carry people in response to emergent situations. Provides advice to clinical staff regarding patient release and restraint. Engages in customer service activities, including providing directions and assistance to patients and visitors. Uses computers to write reports, monitor security cameras, and manage access control systems. Required to work on multiple campuses based on staffing needs or department requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct random patrols of Swedish Medical Center property.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents.
- Report safety hazards and document actions and observations.
- Respond to alarms and codes, providing traffic control and assisting with safe patient handling.
- Conduct routine safety walks and submit remedial requests for identified concerns.
- Engage in stressful situations, potentially using physical force to maintain safety.
- Provide advice to clinical staff on patient release and restraint matters.
- Perform customer service activities, including providing directions and assistance to patients and visitors.
- Use computers for report writing, monitoring security cameras, and managing access control systems.
Requirements
Security Officer
- Within 90 days of hire: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
- Within 6 months (180 days) of hire: Successful completion of TASER© training and certification (with annual re-certification).
- Within 6 months (180 days) of hire: Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) Training and Certification.
- Customer service experience and/or training.
Senior Security Officer
- Within 90 days of hire: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
- Within 90 days of hire: Successful completion of TASER/AXON Training and Certification annually.
- Within 90 days of hire: Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) Training and Certification.
- 3 years of related civilian or military security/law enforcement experience, including at least 2 years in healthcare security.
- Customer service experience and Hospital Incident Command System training.
Preferred Qualifications
Security Officer
- Associate's Degree.
- 1 year of related civilian or military security/law enforcement experience.
- Healthcare security experience.
Senior Security Officer
- Associate's Degree or equivalent.
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) ICS 100.HCB; ICS 200.HCA; and 700.A certification (upon request).
Pay
- Security Officer, Salary Range: Edmonds, WA - Min: $21.08, Max: $35.89.
- Senior Security Officer, Salary Range: Edmonds, WA - Min: $22.58, Max: $38.39.
These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
