Security Officer

Under general supervision, the Security Officer monitors and provides protection and security for facilities, premises, employees, patients, and visitors. This position responds to security calls within the medical center, conducts basic investigations, and troubleshoots the electronic visitor management system.

Responsibilities

• Physically patrol the perimeter of the medical center and parking lot.
• Communicate tactfully with the public.
• Respond to security calls within the medical center.
• Conduct basic investigations.
• Troubleshoot the electronic visitor management system.
• Work rotating shifts and overtime as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Bachelor’s degree or other relevant certifications may substitute for required work experience.
• One year of relevant experience in Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Service, Behavioral Health, Counseling, Education, or Military.
• Must obtain and maintain the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification within the first year of employment.
• Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.

• Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted (Infrequent).
• Ability to lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs. (Infrequent).
• Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force (Frequent).
• Ability to maintain vision 20/40 corrected (Continuous).
• Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance (Continuous).
• Ability to match or discriminate between colors (Continuous).

Pay

Hourly pay grade: Health-21.

Schedule

Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Rotating shifts and overtime as required.
