About the Role

As a first responder to emergency situations at the assigned facility, you will secure areas, provide customer service, mitigate sudden behavioral occurrences, deter crimes, check for irregularities, and inspect protection devices and fire control equipment. You will enforce security and safety regulations to protect hospital patients, visitors, staff, and property from hazardous conditions and criminal activities, including potential workplace violence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled or assigned rounds inside and outside of assigned areas, investigating and documenting unusual or suspicious incidents and initiating corrective action as needed.
  • Assist other security personnel, hospital employees, and escort visitors to desired locations.
  • Observe and document non-compliance with policies and procedures, including identification badge display, fire, disaster, electrical, safety, and infection control policies.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all employee, patient, visitor, physician, hospital, and security-related information.
  • Respond promptly to calls from nursing and other hospital departments to manage disorderly patients or visitors and emergency codes.
  • Follow established standards of performance, including using pre-established scripts for phone interactions and customer service.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills, education, and planning as outlined in system, operations, and departmental policies.
  • Perform other related duties as required and directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Valid state driver’s license (required).
  • No criminal records or violations (required).
  • Driving record must comply with the approved insurance company’s regulations (required).
  • Training beyond high school in related programs (preferred).
  • Previous experience in the healthcare industry (preferred).
  • Associate degree in criminal justice, security administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Six months of prior work experience (preferred).

Schedule

Per diem position with variable daily work times. Weekend shifts required.
