Security Officer

About the role
Uniformed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, students, and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, fires, and natural disasters, as well as providing outstanding customer service to our customers, clients, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service when dealing with clients, customers, co-workers, etc.
- Guard posts, including building lobbies or reception areas.
- Conduct hourly foot patrols of interior and exterior to check entrances, doors, windows, and vents are locked and secure against break-ins (includes climbing stairs).
- Monitor surroundings on closed-circuit television.
- Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
- Check for employee and vendor identifications.
- Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
- Provide first aid or other medical treatment in emergency situations, if needed.
- Operate x-ray and/or metal detection equipment where deployed.
- Follow site-specific post guidelines.
- Report potentially hazardous conditions and items in need of repair, including lighting, plumbing, wet floors, etc.
- Document daily activities and incident reports.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
- Must pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana; federal compliance required).
- Must not have been convicted of any felonies.
- Must not have been convicted of misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk (including up and down stairs) for 8–12 hours at a time.
- Must have clear vision at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
- Must be able to hear conversations in loud environments, either in-person or via radio.
- Must be able to use a smart mobile phone or computer to check emails and complete online training.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, personal integrity, and a positive attitude.
- Must complete required trainings on time and adhere to all client and company policies.

Eligibility requires employment for at least one year while maintaining an average of 20+ hours per week. Benefits are offered annually in November to eligible employees. Eligibility may be lost if availability changes and scheduling needs are not met.

$19.40/hour
