Security Officer

About the role
Provides a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors, and employees by enforcing hospital security regulations. Patrols assigned areas, identifies safety hazards, and reports unusual occurrences. Investigates complaints or potential criminal conduct, assists in restraining patients as necessary, and provides protective services. Exhibits excellent customer service skills and, if applicable, is responsible for the arrest of criminal suspects under the authority of State Special Police license.
Responsibilities
- Patrols assigned areas, with particular attention to areas where security problems have occurred.
- Identifies unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas/property to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages.
- Maintains strict confidentiality standards at all times.
- Investigates thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential criminal misconduct by questioning individuals; notifies law enforcement agencies and detains suspicious individuals as appropriate.
- Makes arrests when authorized and participates in subsequent court proceedings as required.
- Prepares and submits accurate written reports; logs all incidents and keeps the Supervisor informed.
- Maintains accountability for valuables, property, and evidence; ensures safekeeping and proper documentation.
- Performs as Dispatcher using integrated security systems; radio dispatches personnel and maintains documentation.
- Assists workplace and domestic victims; responds to medical emergencies; assists in patient restraint when authorized.
- Involved in dignitary protection and controls pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
- Voluntarily participates in departmental committees, task forces, and teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Criminal Justice preferred).
- Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License].
- Experience in hospital, security/police, emergency medical, or customer services (3-5 years preferred).

Additional Details
This is an onsite role located at 1153 Centre Street, with scheduled weekly hours of 40.
Pay
$22.22 - $31.71/hour (Grade 5).
