This Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced position is a flexible, dependable option for individuals looking to supplement their income, gain hands-on experience, or work toward a full-time career with the industry leader. As a Security Officer in Houston, TX, this role provides reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility to earn more by picking up additional shifts when it works for you.
This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week, with the option to scale back when needed.
How This Role Works
- Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
- Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to visitors, employees, contractors, and members of the public by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, access-control protocols, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
- Monitor access points, verify credentials and authorized entry, maintain visitor records, issue temporary access credentials as directed, and report access-control concerns to site contacts and/or Allied Universal leadership.
- Respond to incidents, access-control alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established procedures and documenting observations and actions taken.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, entry points, parking areas, and the perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
- Prepare accurate reports, maintain required logs, communicate professionally with public-facing personnel and emergency responders, and support a professional environment for all occupants and visitors.
Requirements
- Possess 1+ years of law enforcement experience or 2+ years of security-related supervisor/manager experience or 3+ years of security-related experience.
- Possess an armed guard card/license.
- Possess a college degree or provide proof of a high school diploma or GED.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess an active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
