Position Summary
The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a higher level of protection for the Staff, Patients and Visitors.
Responsibilities
- Protect the Patients and the Staff by utilizing effective armed security patrols.
- Protect and Safeguard Hospitals assets.
- Member of the Fire Control Team/Protect Fire Scene.
- Investigate and document security incidents.
- Assigned to special assignment that requires an armed security presence.
Requirements, Experience And Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- New York State Driver's License.
- Active New York State Armed Security Guard License.
- Annual firearms requalification.
- Possess a valid Pistol Carry Permit listing the possession of a 9mm.
- Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required within 3 Months of Hire.
- Prior law enforcement/security/fire safety experience.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Pre-Employment Requirements
- Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services*
- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
