Security Officer Armed Entry Authorization

About the role
As an Armed Access Control Officer in a transportation setting, you will help manage entry points, verify access credentials, maintain a visible presence, and support a welcoming environment for employees and visitors. You will use sound judgment, clear communication, and customer service skills to help deter security-related incidents and report concerns.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, contractors, and drivers while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures and access-control policies at a transportation facility.
- Monitor access points, verify credentials and authorized entry requirements, and maintain visitor, contractor, and vehicle entry records in accordance with site procedures.
- Respond to incidents, access-control concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of designated facilities, rail-adjacent areas, parking areas, and perimeter locations, reporting unusual conditions through established channels.
- Help deter unauthorized access by observing activity at assigned posts and communicating policy violations or suspicious activity to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- Possess an armed guard card or license.
- Possess at least 2 years of law enforcement, military, or corrections experience, or a college degree.
- Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Preferred qualifications: Comfortable using a computer or tablet, and customer service experience.
