Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aid the AF cognizant security authority (CSA) in overseeing National Security Objectives supporting AF interests.
  • Provide “day-to-day” support for collateral and/or as specifically directed, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) activities. This involves active and integrated security operations, processes, mechanisms, and is carried out under the direction of the Government security administrator.
  • Offer multi-disciplinary security support, including aspects of information security, personnel security, operations security, industrial security, communications security, and anti-terrorism/force protection duties, while remaining responsive and flexible to dynamic security situations.
  • Engage in analytical, planning, advisory, operational, or evaluative work aimed at developing and implementing policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.
  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
    • Providing technical advice and security support to multiple collateral programs and, where specifically called for, SCI programs within the Division.
    • Maintaining effective working relationships with Information Protection (IP) Leads, Program Managers, Contracting Officers, and others as needed to ensure a standardized and accurate protection integration focus throughout the acquisition and sustainment lifecycle of our programs.
    • Developing and writing operations security (OPSEC) plans, transition plans, emergency action plans, transportation plans, and other security documents as needed for the customer.
    • Reviewing program documentation for public release, ensuring Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) has proper markings, classifications, and distribution statements per DOD and AF guidance, and providing accurate feedback to IP Leads about document disposition ability.
    • Providing classification guidance and assistance for all collateral and SCI (where needed) programs.
    • Advising on counterintelligence threats and trends to assist unit and program assigned personnel.
    • Assisting with the development of Security Classification Guides (SCG), Program Protection Plans, Security Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other key security documents as directed by the IP Lead.
    • Conducting effective entry and exit inspections along with any other random anti-terrorism measures as directed by unit, installation, or higher level anti-terrorism authority.
    • Assisting in maintaining facility access control, to include visitor control/escorting and access badge creation, issuing, and tracking.
    • Performing data entry to the Security System database.
    • Following and enforcing the customer’s Standard Operating Procedures or Operating Instructions (OI).
    • Assuming duties and responsibilities of, COMSEC Responsible Officers or Secure Voice Responsible Officers in accordance with applicable regulations or instructions and as needed by the IP Lead.
    • Assuming duties and responsibilities of alternate equipment custodian, as required.
    • Providing security support to classified processing areas or secure work areas (CAP/SWA) to include, but not limited to:
      • Exercising delegated access control to CAPs/SWAs.
      • Aiding in accomplishing end-of-duty day security check to open/close CAPs/SWAs.
      • Aiding with alarms activity where applicable; setting, testing, coordinating maintenance, and updating alarm response letters and other associated administrated support.
      • Aiding with classified meetings and all associated support requirements to ensure their proper successful execution.
    • Supporting the security awareness and education programs which includes but is not limited to creating or modifying presentations, brochures or posters. Giving verbal, in person security/force protection briefings to individuals or groups either formally or in ad hoc format.
    • Performing miscellaneous administrative support functions as directed by The Contractor site lead and/or the IP Lead.

    Required skills may include but are not limited to:

    • Understanding of counterintelligence threats and trends.
    • Familiar with security policy/manuals and the appropriate DoD and AF Directives, Manuals, and Instructions.
    • Familiar with DISS, National Industrial Security System (NISS), and Security Training, Education and Professionalization Portal (STEP). Basic knowledge of the DD Form 254 and how it is incorporated in the Air Force acquisition process.
    • Able to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DoD, military/civilian personnel, and industry partners.
    • Demonstrated maturity and ability in handling sensitive information regarding acquisition programs, exercises, personal matters of a potential derogatory nature, or military activities with discretion and sound judgement.
    • Demonstrated originality, creativity, and initiative while requiring minimal supervision.
    • Able to accurately convey information both in written and verbal format.
    • Understanding of Cloud-based classified systems and connections.

    Required Experience

    • One of the following combinations of education/experience:
    • BA/BS, ten (10) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, three (3) of which must be in the DoD -OR-
    • HS Diploma, fifteen (15) years of directly related experience, five (5) of which must be in the DoD.
    • Must be willing to travel within organizations direct area of responsibility.
    • Must be willing to adapt to contingency schedule if required by unit in unusual cases of emergency or critical mission support need.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
    • U.S. Citizenship required; Secret Security Clearance is required to start and must be able to maintain.
