Responsibilities
- Leads the Security Department and is responsible for the safety and security of guests, employees, assets, facilities, and operations.
- Oversees security operations, investigations, emergency response, regulatory compliance, staffing, training, and security procedures.
- Supervises, coaches, and manages Security staff, including scheduling, training, performance, and accountability.
- Develops and maintains effective Security policies, procedures, post orders, and operating standards.
- Manages staffing and labor costs while maintaining appropriate security coverage.
- Identifies security risks and implements solutions to improve operations and protect company assets.
- Oversees security operations for live racing, special events, concerts, festivals, rodeos, and other large events.
- Ensures Security provides professional, responsive, and customer-focused service.
- Coordinates with other departments to support safe and efficient property operations.
- Maintains confidentiality of security, employee, guest, investigative, and company information.
Emergency Management
- Develops and maintains emergency response plans and procedures.
- Coordinates Security response to medical emergencies, fire, severe weather, evacuations, active threats, missing persons, and other incidents.
- Leads or coordinates major incident response and ensures proper notification and documentation.
- Conducts or supports drills, exercises, and after-action reviews.
Investigations & Asset Protection
- Conducts and supervises investigations involving theft, loss, misconduct, property damage, policy violations, and other incidents.
- Ensures accurate incident reports and appropriate preservation of evidence, including video and documentation.
- Coordinates with law enforcement when criminal or regulatory matters require outside involvement.
- Analyzes incident trends and recommends preventive measures.
Regulatory & Agency Relations
- Serves as a liaison with gaming and racing regulators, law enforcement, fire officials, EMS, and other agencies.
- Ensures departmental compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and internal controls.
- Prompts reports compliance or legal concerns to Executive Management/General Manager.
- Supports regulatory inspections, audits, investigations, and requests for information.
Security Technology
- Oversees the effective use of CCTV/video surveillance, access control, alarms, radios, and security reporting systems.
- Works with IT, Facilities, vendors, and other departments to resolve security technology issues.
- Ensures security systems support daily operations, investigations, and emergency response.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Assists with the department budget and monitors labor, overtime, and operating expenses.
- Maintains accurate schedules, reports, training records, investigations, and other required documentation.
- Uses security and operational data to identify trends and improve performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent; or five (5) years of Casino Security, Military, or Law Enforcement experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) years of leadership experience highly preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Driver’s License and operate company vehicles as needed.
- Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with issues.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
- Must have the ability to remain calm in emergency or stressful situations.
Pay
Starting at $65,000 annually.
