About the role

The Commercial Installer works onsite with Johnson Controls' commercial customers to set up and program Integrated Security, Access Control, CCTV, and Fire Alarm Systems. They dismantle and reconstruct equipment as needed and maintain appropriate certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
  • Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials, and cleans up installation debris.
  • Adheres to safety standards and local and national codes, with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Maintains appropriate local and National Fire / Security Industry Certifications.
  • Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Continuously interacts with customers to understand their needs, wants, and current systems.
  • Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.
  • Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.
  • Follows proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
  • Aids in monitoring project execution per plan.
  • Reports problems or changes to supervisor or management.
  • Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
  • Reads building, electrical, and sprinkler blueprints as required.
  • Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
  • Completes paperwork and on-site documentation as required.
  • Performs self-study (reading, research, and practice) to obtain technical proficiency on required products and applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May manage installation teams on larger projects.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced installers.
  • Travel required, using provided company vehicle and equipment.

Requirements

  • Must have State of Massachusetts Class D License.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 Years Commercial Installation experience.
  • Electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Will train apprentices as required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to always operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.
  • Advanced computer skills required.
  • No fear of heights.
  • No color blindness.
  • Able to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Able to stand, kneel, drive for extended periods of time.
  • Travel is required – MA, NH and Maine – some overnight and weekends may be required with notice.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to explain technical information to non-technical people.
  • Valid Driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Background Check and Pre-Employment Drug Test is Required.

Qualifications

  • NICET II Certification.
  • CCTV certifications.
  • Experience bending conduit.
  • State of Maine Master Limited Energy License.
