Security Guard Transitional Shelter

About the Role

As a Security Guard Transitional Shelter in South Ozone Park, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a shelter setting. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for tenants, visitors, and staff. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service, clear communication, and reporting security-related concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned housing shelter areas, entrances, common spaces, exterior grounds, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points, verify authorized entry as directed by site procedures, and report suspicious activity, maintenance concerns, and policy violations.
• Prepare clear, accurate incident reports and maintain daily activity logs in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific requirements.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
