Security Field Install Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • System Installation & Configuration
  • Install, configure, and test security systems, including:
    • Video surveillance (CCTV / IP cameras)
    • Access control systems
    • Intrusion detection and alarm systems
    • Intercoms and related low-voltage equipment
  • Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and system documentation.
  • Ensure new installations meet operational requirements and security standards.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on security systems.
  • Diagnose system malfunctions and perform timely repairs.
  • Document issues, corrective actions, and system changes.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and tools.
  • Operational Support
  • Respond to service requests and security system outages.
  • Cook with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Provide basic system operation training to staff or end users.
  • Support upgrades and system modernization projects.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure systems comply with applicable codes, policies, and regulations.
  • Follow safety protocols when working with electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Maintain accurate service records and work orders.

Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Technical training or certification in security systems, electronics, or related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience installing or maintaining security or low-voltage systems
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, PoE, switches)
  • Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel between work sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with correctional, government, or high-security environments
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Bosch, Honeywell, Avigilon)
  • Knowledge of electronic locking systems and life-safety interfaces
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems (CMMS)
  • OSHA or other safety training

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined or elevated spaces
  • Work may involve exposure to secure or restricted environments
  • May require on-call availability or after-hours work

Compensation

  • Competitive, Negotiable Pay
  • Obtaining Security Clearance may be required
  • Possible On-Call Rotation expected
