About the role
The position offers an exciting opportunity for cybersecurity and network security professionals to contribute to critical government initiatives in a remote setting. The role involves supporting documentation, reporting, and compliance activities related to network security, ensuring adherence to enterprise security standards and frameworks. The successful candidate will assist in monitoring network environments, executing security actions, and supporting vulnerability management efforts. This role requires a detail-oriented approach, strong understanding of network infrastructure, and the ability to support multiple enterprise network environments. Candidates will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enforce security controls, respond to security incidents, and maintain comprehensive documentation to support audit and compliance requirements. The position is contingent upon contract award and availability, offering a chance to work within a dynamic, mission-driven organization dedicated to national security and public service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Support documentation, reporting, and compliance activities related to network security
- Monitor network environments using security tools, support alert triage, and initial threat detection
- Execute directed security actions such as firewall updates, access restrictions, and configuration changes following standard operating procedures
- Support vulnerability management efforts, including remediation tracking and reporting
- Perform POA&M analysis and coordinate remediation for network security issues
- Assist in spill response, containment activities, and evidence collection during security incidents
- Maintain accurate documentation, incident logs, and runbooks to ensure auditability and knowledge transfer
- Support testing and validation of network changes, patches, and security configurations
- Collaborate with network, security, and infrastructure teams to enforce security controls across all environments
- Contribute to monthly security posture reports and compliance metrics
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years of experience supporting cybersecurity, network security, or IT infrastructure support in enterprise environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; active Public Trust and/or DHS Suitability preferred
- U.S. citizenship or U.S. national status required
- Experience with network monitoring tools and alert triage processes
- Familiarity with network security concepts such as firewalls, access control, and traffic monitoring
- Knowledge of vulnerability management, compliance tracking, and IT security support functions
- Basic understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and communications systems
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination skills
- Ability to support network configuration changes and enforce access controls
