About the Role

The Cybersecurity Network Security Specialist at Maximus TCS plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s network security framework, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of enterprise network environments. This position involves monitoring and managing network security tools, supporting compliance activities, and executing security actions in line with established protocols. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in supporting documentation, reporting, and compliance activities related to cybersecurity. They will work closely with cross-functional teams including network, security, and infrastructure, to implement security controls, perform vulnerability assessments, and respond to security incidents. The role demands a detail-oriented professional capable of working in structured, compliance-driven environments, with a strong understanding of network monitoring, security concepts, and incident response procedures. The specialist will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support audit processes, and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory frameworks such as NIST and FISMA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or IT infrastructure support within enterprise environments
  • Experience supporting documentation, reporting, and compliance activities
  • Understanding of network monitoring tools and alert triage processes
  • Knowledge of network security concepts including firewalls, access control, and traffic monitoring
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management, compliance tracking, and IT security support functions
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and communication systems
  • Ability to execute security actions using standard operating procedures and runbooks

Responsibilities

  • Support documentation, reporting, and compliance activities related to network security
  • Monitor network security tools, triage alerts, and support threat detection efforts
  • Assist in managing multiple enterprise network environments, ensuring security controls are enforced
  • Implement directed security actions such as network access restrictions, firewall updates, and policy modifications
  • Support vulnerability management activities, including remediation tracking and reporting of findings
  • Perform POA&M analysis and coordinate remediation efforts for network security issues
  • Assist in spill response and containment activities, including evidence collection and execution of predefined remediation actions
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly security posture reports and compliance metrics
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, incident logs, and runbooks to support audit readiness and knowledge transfer
  • Support testing and validation activities following network changes, patches, and security updates
  • Collaborate with network, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure consistent security control enforcement
  • Support vulnerability scanning, remediation, and compliance activities aligned with industry standards
