Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of customers, employees, and others while on the premises of HCCTR, including racing, barn areas, and events showroom.
  • Greet patrons and visually inspect bags, purses, and individuals for unauthorized items.
  • Assist customers and employees, and report critical situations (medical emergencies, irate customers, etc.).
  • Conduct continual observation and patrolling of the casino premises, buildings, grounds, corridors, barn areas, office areas, and parking facilities.
  • Ensure the integrity of all slot and table games of HCCTR.
  • Transport gaming chips to and from gaming tables in accordance with internal control procedures.
  • Perform the drop for table games, including poker, in accordance with internal control procedures.
  • Report critical situations and any violations, acts, or situations detrimental to HCCTR to the appropriate supervisor or Security management.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
  • Advise violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
  • Assist in internal or external investigations conducted by HCCTR or authorized local authorities.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
  • Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
  • Sound alarms or notify supervision verbally, by radio, or by telephone in case of fire, theft, or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property.
  • Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment for supervisory staff.
  • Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic to maintain orderly flow as needed.
  • Enthusiastically support, actively promote, and demonstrate superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards.
  • Maintain behavior and appearance to meet established standards.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality regarding internal functions of the Security department and other confidential information.
  • Participate in meetings and training as required.
  • Perform all job duties in a safe and responsible manner and report safety hazards immediately.
  • Prepare reports as requested or required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department and/or company management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, employees, and others.
  • Effective in communicating and presenting information and responding to questions from supervisors, managers, fellow employees, and/or the general public.
  • Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions applicable to business needs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must obtain licensing with the West Virginia Lottery and Racing Commissions every year of employment.
  • CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside.
  • Periodic checks of your driving record will be conducted to determine continued suitability to drive company and/or patron vehicles.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must have good observation skills.
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours, and overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Must be diplomatic and tactful; speak clearly and politely; respond well to questions.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and others.
  • Regularly required to stand/walk up to twelve hours; speak; hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock.
  • Working environment where smoking is permitted and higher than normal noise levels.
