Section Director of Hematopathology

About the role

The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC) and Case Western Reserve University is seeking an experienced academic hematopathologist to lead the Section of Hematopathology within the Division of Clinical Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of hematopathology diagnostic services
• Support and oversee the educational and research missions of the Section
• Mentor the faculty of the Section to success in these missions
• Provide a full range of state-of-the-art diagnostic services to UHCMC, Seidman Cancer Center, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and other hospitals in the UH network
• Manage the hematology laboratory, bone marrow and lymph node diagnostic services, and flow cytometry
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows
• Engage in clinical and translational research activities

Requirements

• Hold an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree
• Be board-certified/eligible in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology with fellowship training and/or specialty expertise in hematopathology
• Be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio

• Experience in leading hematopathology diagnostic services
• Ability to support and oversee educational and research missions
• Strong mentoring skills
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques
• Experience in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
• Interest in clinical and translational research
