Responsibilities
- Transcribes medical dictation related to patient evaluation and care.
- Composes and types practice correspondence such as letters, memorandums, and policies from physicians, staff, and patients.
- Proofreads correspondence, revising as necessary to ensure accuracy prior to submittal or distribution.
- Files all correspondence, policies, reports, and forms in an orderly fashion.
- Provides support for physicians by scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel.
- Arranges and attends meetings, taking and distributing minutes accordingly.
- Recognizes, interprets, and evaluates inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in dictation, and appropriately edits, revises, and clarifies.
- Uses reference materials efficiently to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and completeness of reports.
- Answers telephone calls promptly, identifying the practice/clinic and self by name, and takes accurate messages.
- Greets patients and visitors professionally and courteously, offering assistance when appropriate.
- Organizes and prioritizes assigned work to meet work demands and deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be willing to float to other practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules, etc., make it necessary.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic to advanced computer skills including data entry.
- Ability to work independently and multitask in most situations, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent customer service, written, and verbal communication skills, including professional etiquette and the ability to communicate professionally with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and general office procedures including filing and reconciliation of office expenses.
- Ability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, problem-solve, and make independent decisions.
- Flexibility, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills that promote teamwork.
- Typing competence, with a minimum of 20 wpm typing skills preferred.
- Ability to work with people of various diverse backgrounds and demonstrate strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Qualifications
- High School Grad or Equivalent required
- 1+ years of position-related experience required
Pay
$16.63 - $26.60 per hour
