North Country Community Mental Health offers internships for students at the Bachelor and Master levels. These internships provide valuable hands-on experience in the behavioral health field, including coordination of services, working with mental illness and intellectual or developmental disability populations, and writing assessment and treatment plans. Many interns are offered full-time positions at the end of their internships.Education Assistance
We value education and provide assistance to our staff with the cost of education. Our tuition reimbursement program is available to those seeking degrees in behavioral health fields. Additionally, we offer programs such as Michigan Reconnect, which provides free in-district tuition at a Michigan community college to earn an associate degree or Pell-eligible skill certificate.Loan Repayment Programs
North Country Community Mental Health participates in various loan repayment programs to help our staff manage their student loan debt. These include Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), Michigan Reconnect, and the State of Michigan Loan Repayment Program (MSLRP). Details on eligibility and application processes are provided for each program.Healthcare Providers
Providers who work with children and have student loan debt may qualify for the MI Kids Now Loan Repayment Program (MKN LRP), which offers up to $300,000 in income-tax-free funds over ten years. Providers must complete a two-year service obligation and agree to participate in the program.National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
North Country Community Mental Health is a priority practice site for the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program, which provides up to $300,000 in income-tax-free funds to repay eligible educational debt for up to 10 years. The NHSC also offers scholarship programs for students pursuing primary care health professions in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).Additional Policies
