Position Summary

The Vice Principal plays a vital role in ensuring the success of students, teachers, and staff by supporting all aspects of the school’s programs. By working closely with the school principal, the Vice Principal helps foster a safe, inclusive, and academically excellent environment where every student can thrive. This position requires strong leadership skills, instructional expertise, and a commitment to continuous school improvement. This position includes responsibilities as Vice Principal and Athletic Director, with additional oversight of Fine Arts programs as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the development, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive school improvement plan.
  • Conduct regular classroom visits to assess the quality of instruction and recommend effective teaching strategies.
  • Introduce and lead innovative initiatives to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
  • Assist teachers in identifying and using resources that complement the curriculum and address diverse student needs.
  • Offer guidance and mediation in resolving student/teacher and student/student conflicts.
  • Provide classroom management support to enhance the learning environment.
  • Conduct teacher evaluations through scheduled observations and provide actionable feedback to improve instructional quality.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities, grade-level meetings, and collaborative planning sessions.
  • Support paraprofessionals in their roles to effectively assist teachers and students.
  • Foster a welcoming and harmonious educational environment that embraces multiculturalism and diversity.
  • Implement strategies to improve student attendance, behavior, and overall school climate.
  • Supervise daily school operations, including safety protocols, and serve as the acting administrator in the principal's absence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Missouri Certification in Secondary School Teaching and Administration.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of secondary teaching experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Pay & Schedule

Salary starting at $85,091. Full-time, 12-month, in-person position. FLSA status: Exempt.

Physical Demands

This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least 25 pounds and in case of emergency, a 40 pound child. Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch, and sit on the floor or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
