Overview

Stellar Virtual seeks a highly motivated and certified Secondary Health/PE Teacher to join our team. This remote position will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective health and physical education instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of health and wellness principles, physical fitness concepts, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering healthy lifestyles and physical activity in an online environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with the Missouri State Standards for Health and Physical Education for grades 6-12.
  • Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and needs, adapting physical activities for the home environment.
  • Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, discussions, and resources for at-home physical activity.
  • Provide clear and timely feedback on student work to promote understanding and growth in health concepts and physical activity engagement.
  • Facilitate virtual discussions and provide individualized support to students as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Implement the Stellar Virtual health and physical education curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and home environments.
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning in health knowledge and participation in physical activity.
  • Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the health and physical education curriculum for the virtual setting.
  • Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
  • Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
  • Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • A minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
  • Experience teaching a range of secondary health and physical education topics.
  • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
  • Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
  • Passion for promoting healthy lifestyles and physical activity among students.
  • Residency in the state of Missouri is required.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Health Education, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • A valid Missouri teaching license with an endorsement in Health and Physical Education (grades 6-12) or equivalent.

$48,500.00 Annually to $55,000.00 Annually
