Secondary Physical Education Teacher

Responsibilities

• Plan, teach, and assess physical education classes that cater to the needs and interests of students
• Create a balanced curriculum that includes individual, team sports, fitness activities, and health education
• Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment to encourage student participation and enjoyment in physical activity
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
• Collaborate with fellow educators to incorporate health education and physical fitness into the broader school curriculum
• Stay updated on the latest developments in physical education and coaching techniques
• Instruct students in safety practices related to physical activities and sports
• Communicate with parents and guardians about students' progress and ways to support their physical education at home
• Participate in district-wide events and contribute to school-wide initiatives related to health and wellness

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education
• Valid Arizona teaching certification in Physical Education
• Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum, assessment methods, and instructional strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to motivate and inspire students to be physically active and healthy
• Experience working with diverse student populations is preferred
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus
