About the Role

The Academic Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that enhance student learning, engagement, and achievement across multiple domains. The coordinator collaborates with district and building level staff, community partners, and families to ensure the alignment of academic programs and support systems that meet student needs and district goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Commitment to play a key team role to transform schools into active learning centers, with a focus on rigorous instruction, student engagement, academic progress and results.
  • Ensures that all curricular changes are grounded in student achievement data.
  • Manages the development of curriculum and assessments and makes decisions in regards to the curriculum of the district.
  • Lead the relentless pursuit of student achievement.
  • Visits classrooms to provide support, feedback and ensure that lesson activities are aligned to objective-driven curriculum plans and best practices.
  • Use student achievement data to guide instructional decisions.
  • Investigate and identify interventions for struggling students and ensure systems of progress monitoring.
  • Ensure programs align with academic standards and provide enrichment opportunities for students.
  • Provide teachers with ideas and instructional tools or techniques to implement and enhance classroom instruction.
  • Provide instructional leadership, including knowledge of concrete methods for successfully raising student achievement.
  • Work proactively with teachers and staff to improve classroom instruction and student management skills within and beyond the classroom through professional development and teacher coaching.
  • Collaborate with educators to implement evidenced-based best practices that improve student outcomes.
  • Facilitate and support professional development of teachers and staff.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee career readiness initiatives that align with state standards and workforce needs.
  • Provide leadership and school building level support to promote the delivery of rigorous, high quality Career-Technical Education programming, in compliance with state standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Scope and Sequences, providing specific support for Career-Technical Education program areas.
  • Expand Career & Technical district programming and increase student participation.
  • Recommend and secure the purchase of curriculum resources/materials, and state of the art equipment/classroom technology to promote student academic and technical skill achievement and overall CTE performance measures.
  • Researches and informs district leaders of current academic and career readiness initiatives, relevant and timely application of assessment tools, and concrete instructional strategies for boosting student achievement and ultimately high school graduation.
  • Maintain productive and meaningful relationships with community organizations, city/state agencies, and district partners to establish career pathways, internships, and job shadowing opportunities for students.
  • Support the coordination of the school mentoring program, recruit mentors, provide training for students and mentors, and organize events to support the mentoring initiative.
  • Maintain highly organized student and family communication records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a competitive university required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Valid comprehensive teaching certificate/license required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience required.
  • Curriculum Coach/Leader, administrative or leadership experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Experience with career readiness programs or CTE initiatives preferred.
  • Knowledge of STEM programming and project-based learning preferred.
