About the role
Responsible for the performance of manual and machine tasks in the setup, maintenance, and operation of sheet-fed offset presses to accurately produce product to customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Operate various sheet-fed offset presses.
- Read work orders to determine setup specifications and instructions.
- Start machines and make trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setups.
- Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.
- Assure the image is registered from unit to unit and run samples to make adjustments to assure print quality and color settings are in accordance with densitometer readings.
- Follow all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position, and department.
- Perform routine adjustments during the press run and maintain quality throughout the run.
- Perform all assigned work effectively and on schedule.
- Accurately follow instructions.
- Maintain records of daily production, using specified forms.
- Record production information such as amount of time spent on specific tasks.
- Preserve and pass along customer artwork in clean and undamaged condition.
- Keep work area neat and clean.
- Open machines and remove/replace damaged product, using hand tools.
- Perform daily/monthly maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of printing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic computer skills (data entry).
- Ability to perform intermediate arithmetic including additions, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, ratios, etc.
- Ability to read a ruler.
- Ability to do accurate work.
- Effective decision-making skills.
- Ability to self-manage time effectively.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
- Ability to maintain good attendance.
- Ability to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
