About the role
HPC-Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is seeking Seasonal Traveling Industrial Maintenance Hydroblasters Laborers to join their safety-conscious team. This role involves hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and general industrial maintenance. The position requires representing HPC-Industrial in maintaining positive relationships with clients.
Responsibilities
- Act as a safety representative, adhering to safety policies and procedures of both the company and the client, including hands-on information about operations, safety, equipment, emergency response, and administrative functions.
- Operate manual and automated hydro-blasting equipment, special equipment like ultra-high-pressure pumps, and various cleaning and cutting equipment.
- Ensure compliance with company and customer specifications during surface cleaning.
- Perform routine maintenance on company equipment.
- Interface with customer representatives, ensuring job setup and scope are met or exceeded, and company policies are implemented.
- Report to the branch manager or designated representative and implement procedures to achieve specified results.
Physical Demands
- See, read, distinguish, and understand signs in the work area.
- Hear and distinguish emergency signals while on duty.
- Execute a 180-degree rotary motion of the cervical spine to allow complete movement of the head and neck.
- Frequently bend at the waist, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, and crawl.
- Tolerate being wet from head to toe for an unlimited amount of time.
- Climb ladders and work from scaffolding and stationary platforms up to heights of 200 feet.
- Tolerate and function in confined spaces of a minimum 5-foot inside diameter.
- Hold the back thrust of 50 pounds on a straight 66-inch pipe for a minimum of one hour.
- Must be physically capable of using both negative pressure and air-supplied respirators.
- Must be able to wear protective clothing and/or equipment, including Nomex coveralls, back belts, slickers, rubber boots, fresh air breathing masks, escape packs, and hard hats.
- Work under extreme climate conditions (extreme high heat index of 95°F, 98% humidity; and sub-zero weather conditions).
- Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, exhaust, and highly pressurized fluids.
- Exposure to noise levels exceeding 85 dBA (hearing protection is provided and required).
- Lift and maintain a minimum of 40 pounds.
Qualifications
- Specific vocational preparation including classroom safety training and on-the-job training.
- Essential experience gained on other jobs.
- Language proficiency: understand English at a level to comprehend safety training and respond to instructions in emergency situations.
- Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time (up to 5 months if necessary).
- OSHA certification may be required for this job.
- Must have a Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) or obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Follow all safety protocols for each site.
- Follow work hours and work rules established by your manager, complying with established HPC policies.
